Biography
Irina Hashmi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology at George Mason University. Her major teaching interest includes computer programming and problem-solving and she coordinates the programming courses in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology. Her research includes techniques from machine learning, data mining, evolutionary computation, and stochastic optimization to solve some complex biological problems. Dr. Hashmi earned her MS and PhD in Computer Science from George Mason University and her BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She worked as a visiting fellow at the Computational Biology Branch at the National Institutes of Health.
