Biography

Khadija Zaidi’s studies in bioengineering at the University of Maryland, College Park introduced her to the intersection of biology and engineering, specifically the application of engineering tools to fill biomedical needs. Zaidi’s undergraduate thesis focused on the development of computer vision assistive technologies for the visually impaired. Zaidi continued to explore an interest in rehabilitation engineering by developing hip implant wear models at the Centers of Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Khadija Zaidi received her PhD in bioengineering from George Mason University in 2023. Zaidi’s work in the Wei Biomechanics lab at the College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason focused on upper extremity movement impairments consequent to neural injuries such as Stroke, and age-related differences in bilateral coordination.
